Conquests and indoctrinations throughout Turtle Island and its southerly neighbors are tragedies virtually infinite in number. Importantly, western civilization as the Roman Empire and later as an empire with Christianism as its state religiosity enacted conquest and indoctrination throughout Europe, the British Isles, and Scandinavia for centuries prior to 1492.

Most of the white folks who invaded Turtle Island typified how thoroughly such conquests induce acculturation and - eventually - assimilation into the dominant society's lifeways and beliefs, even as remnants of pre-conquest cultures persist.

My daily prayer is that the wisdoms of indigenous people will infuse western civilization's madness with renewed sanity.
