Autism
This winter and spring, I worked on and completed Advances in Autism Research, which is a mildly annotated bibliography of peer-reviewed citations, books, and other resources reflecting progress in autism research during approximately the last ten years. Many advances have been prompted by the Autism Research Institute and its colleagues. Many other researchers too have presented significant findings. All in all, new insights in autism range from - but are not limited to - researchers long focused upon mitochondria dysfunction, researchers documenting immune irregularities and the role of environmental pollutants, to clinicians'and parents' insights regarding what treatments help many but not all autistic children. The compilation is presented by the Autism Research Institute, founded by Bernie Rimland, Ph.D., and now led by his successor Stephen M. Edelson, Ph.D. The table of contents (index page) to Advances in Autism Research is located at:

Do some children plateau amid biomedical treatments?
I recently visted several families with autistic children. The concept of a "plateau" effect is presented in an essay preliminarily completed on Dec 19, 2005.
